Project Freefall
Has anyone else tried this out? I messed around with it one day for a few minutes. Its similar to tribes but different than T:A and still in the early stages. I think it would be fun to mess around with one day with a few guys on.

I think there is a few people helping now with map making and feedback from a few members that used to frequent the T:A forums. I recognized a few names from the videos.

Well I guess we better keep an eye on this site, it may be the next "fix" for all of us who are addicted to Tribes. TA seems to be going into the long death spiral, although it has improved in the last week. Seems like there were more players on last week.

I believe the game designer is someone from within the tribes community. Im not a 100% on this but im pretty sure it is being designed on the same gaming engine T:A is. Its still real early yet though in the game design. I think hes working out the tweaks and bugs before he implements a bunch of content. He also has a few people helping with making some more maps now.

The drawback is they're developing on UDK, which is a single compiled engine onto which you can build your modules. You do not have access to the game's source code for more than reference. This means that you are a bit stuck in the UE3 framework and can't tweak it. T:A was designed on a heavily modified UE3 engine, meaning they got further down into the nitty gritty to make Tribes-esque physics work at all.

I am of course intrigued by the project and will check it out anyway Smile
